Cloud X Tifa: One Night

"Cloud?" She knocks softly on the door. No reply. "Cloud? Dinners ready. Might want to get down before Cid and Barret eat it all." No reply from the other side of the door. "Don't make me punch through this door you big-"

The door opens. She takes a slight step back, a bit in shock. Cloud stood there, his expression somber, dried tears on his cheeks.

"Tifa… sorry I was asleep." Cloud gives a soft smile, making Tifa smile somewhat herself.

"You had me worry for a minute there."  Tifa says, scratching the back of her neck. "Now come on. Everyone is waiting for you to…" Cloud looks away from Tifa, his somber expression returning. "What's the matter? You ok Cloud?" Tifa reaches for his hand, which he pulls away quickly.

"I'm not hungry… you enjoy yourself. I'm just staying in my room tonight" Cloud says, beginning to close his door. Tifa slams her palm into the door, stopping it from closing.

"Cloud, if something's wrong you can tell me. We're friends, remember?" Tifa looks into Cloud's eyes as they avoid her.

"Yeah. I know." Cloud says, closing the door in Tifa's face.

Tifa stands, her nose almost touching the door. "Cloud…" she mutters, turning back to the stairs to the dining room.

Cloud sighs deeply as he backs away from the door. He didn't want hr to see him like this. He sits on his bed, putting his face in his dried and rough hands.

"Why can't I just smile like her…"

His eye peaks from his hands to the photo on his bedside. In the picture, Barret stood with Marlene on his shoulder, Cid with his spear slugged over his shoulder, Red XIII sat with his stern look as usual with his fiery tail wrapped around his legs and Cait Smith sitting on his back smiling. Vincent stood in the back, a smile blocked by his tall jacket collar. Yuffie was giving a piece sign and sticking her tongue out. Tifa who was smiling and adjusting her gloves stood next to him in the center of the picture… and he stood there… smiling.

He brought his hands together, rubbing them thoroughly. That picture was taken after they beat Sehiroth and saved the lifestream. After Aerith…

"Aerith…" He mutters. He looks back at the picture, his eyes glossing with tears. He didn't have a picture of her at all. Nothing to remember what she looked like when she smiled. "I…" He grabbed his head, squeezing his temples as he thought it would make the tears come out faster.

"Man Tifa! That was awesome!" The young ninja Yuffie exclaims, rubbing her belly and smiling.

"Yeah…" Barret says, hiccupping and laying back in his seat.

Cid places his utensils down, loosening his belt around his work jeans. "Best meal in a while…"

Vincent wipes his mouth, looking to Tifa with satisfied eyes. "A very good meal Tifa. Thank you."

Tifa listened to everyone's complements on her hand-cooked meal, a simple roast with a few extras. She even had served a chocolate pie for desert, expecting Cloud to have enjoyed that with how much he loved her pies.

"Tifa, you ok?" Yuffie asks, looking to Tifa with her wide eyes.

"Oh, nothing Yuffie. Just Cloud's being-"

Yuffie scoffs, standing and grabbing Tifa by her arm. "Be back in a bit boys. Ladies gotta talk." Yuffie says as she drags Tifa, who was repeatedly asking to be let go, out of the dining room.

Cid lifts a brow, looking to Barret and Vincent. "The girls we hang around worry me sometimes."

"Ok, when are you going to do it?" Yuffie asks whinly, her arms folded her face stern. Tifa stood the same way, except looking away from the younger girl.

"Listen Yuffie, you're to young to understand what's going-"

Yuffie chuckles, then looking at Tifa with a brow raised. "I know exactly what's going on Tifa. Don't think you got me fooled." Yuffie reaches into her back pocket, revealing a small book labeled "Tifa's Diary".

"WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT?" Tifa screams, swiping the small book from Yuffie.

"I'm a thief remember? I have my ways." Yuffie answers with a cheeky grin.

Tiffa stands with reddened cheeks, squeezing the book in her tight grip. "Then you know what I wrote about him?"

"Yeah. You're worried about him since Aerith died aren't you?"

Tiffa doesn't reply. She knew Cloud had felt something for Aerith during their adventure. Saw how sorrow ridden he became after she died at the Sephiroth's hands. Cloud hadn't really been the same. He was always broodening, very rarely smiling or having fun like the others. She missed his smile, because it so easily made her smile.

"You should talk to him." Tifa looked up at Yuffie, who had taken hr hand and was giving a serious, yet playful grin. "He'll talk to you. Cause he knows you both care about each other a lot."

Tifa looked down, wondering if Yuffie was right. Maybe if she and Cloud just sat down, face to face, they could talk things over. Maybe she could make him smile again.

"Alright. Don't know if it'll help, but I'll try." Tifa walks out of the room. Yuffie sighs deeply, rubbing her head.

"Something's gonna happen… I feel it."

"Cloud?" *Kock* knock* "Cloud?"

Cloud's eyes shot open as his body leaned up. He looked to the door, hearing Tifa calling and knocking on his door.

"What could she want?" Cloud mutters under his breath, standing from his bed. He wiped his cheeks, not wanting her to see his dried tears. He opens the door slowly, just letting part of his face show in the doors crack. "Hello-?"

Tifa pushes the door open, sending Cloud back. She slides in, closing the door behind her. She breathed deeply with an awkward grin.

"Sorry. Had to be sure I could get in." She looks at Cloud, her expression softening as she saw a small trail of dried tears down his left cheek. "Cloud…" She walks to him, bringing her fingertips to his left cheek. "You've been crying?"

Cloud pushes her hand away, turning and walking to the window. "I want to be left alone please."

Tifa sighs, bringing her palms to her hips. "Cloud, if something's the matter you can-"

"Nothing's the matter."

"Well if you're up here crying something is-"

"I said nothing's the-"

"Oh for the love of god will you just tell me-"

Cloud turns sharply to Tifa, his face red and his eyes wide. His face was glossed in tears that ran down his face. "Tell you what!? That I'm a pathetic piece of garbage? That I sit here alone and cry myself to sleep because I have nothing but guilt and loneliness in my heart? That I can't even face my friends half the time because I don't want them to see the person they see as their "leader" all bent out of shape? Huh? Take you're freaking pick Tifa!" Cloud finally breaks, falling to his knees and swallowing his face in his hands.

Tifa's eyes stay wide as she looks down at the crying blonde.

"Cloud…" She whispers as she bends down to meet his face. "It's ok. Just calm down a little bi-" She gasps as he wraps his arms around her, his crying face in her ample chest. She wraps her arms around his spiky haired head, resting her cheek on the top of his head. She begins to stroke the back of his head, shushing him to calm him. "Its okay Cloud. It's okay…"

Cloud mumbles into her chest, making her raise a brow.

"What did you say?" She brings his face out of her chest, Cloud sniffing and looking up at her face.

"I said your boobs were suffocating me…"

She tries to hold it in, but couldn't for longer than a second. She lets go of Cloud, falling back and laughs on the floor. Cloud gave a stern look, wiping his nose and looking away from her.

"It wasn't funny…" He looks to her out of the corner of his eye. She was holding her chest, her eyes closed shut, and… smiling.

Tifa leans forward, wiping a tear from her eye. "Yes it was! I think that's the first time you acknowledged my boobs Strife." She opens her eyes, Cloud was holding his hand on his forehead, blocking his face from her and seeming to be weeping. "Oh come on. I couldn't have embarrassed-" She says as she removes his hand from his head, shocked to see he was actually holding in his own laughing. "So, tickled yourself did you?" She taunts, Cloud ignoring her in his confined laughing. She smiles wickedly, bringing her hands to his sides. "Which reminds me…"

Cloud's eyes open, his face fully serious. "Don't you dare do it…"

"Don't I dare do what?"

"You know what I'm talking about Lockhart. You even try I will Ominslash you to hell…"

"Try me."

"TIFA!"

She begins her evil plan. She moves her fingers rapidly at his sides, tickling the big lug Cloud.

"STOP IT! I-I'm… I'm w-w-warning-!" Cloud yells in between each laugh her touch brings. Tifa laughs maniacally at Cloud's pain.

"Gotta beg Strife! Come on Mr. Hero!" She laughs.

Cloud lays on his back with the brunette falling him down. He continues his begging, while she continues her refusal because of the sheer enjoyment she got out of it. He gets his legs under him, bringing his hands to her thighs and getting straight to his feet holding Tifa in his arms. Tifa whines, releasing him from her tickling and trying to break free.

"Let me down you big moping-!"

"Make Ms. Strong Fists!"

Tifa pushes into Cloud, almost punching him on his shoulders for him to release her. "Cloud I swear to god let me dow-" She punches him once in the face, making the blonde trip back, landing on his bed with Tifa landing in top of him.

Cloud rubs his jaw that he was sure her bare knuckles had bruised. "Thanks a lot…" He mutters.

Tifa breathes deeply, moving a strand of hair from her face. "Don't think we've played with each other since we were kids." She arches her back to fix her hair behind her head, bending back over to see Cloud with a blank expression. "Cloud… you ok?"

Cloud could feel his heart pounding softly. The only light in the whole room was coming from the full moon on the outside. It perfectly illuminated Tifa's pale body, making her shine in the dark. Her raven hair shined as well, along with her deep brown eyes. He was in a trance as he examined her face, neck, and small bit of her stomach that showed at her high cut shirt.

"Hello? Earth to Cloud!" Tifa leans in, looking Cloud straight in his blue eyes. "I swear you black out way to-"

"You're beautiful."

Tifa's eyes widen, her mouth stuck on the sentence she hadn't finished. "Cloud… what did you just-" Suddenly she felt pressure on her neck, pulling her into Cloud's face… and her lips to his. Her eyes almost widened so much she was sure they'd fall off her face. It took her a second, but she closed her eyes, enjoying and excepting the random kiss.

The two pull apart, both with blank expressions for a moment, then both softly smiling.

"That was random for you Cloud…" Tifa lightly chuckles. Cloud's eyes were glossed over, small tears trailing from the side of his face this time. "What's the matter?" Tifa whispers softy, wiping the small traces with her thumbs. "Cause if you're going to get all emo on me, it'll kill the moment."

Cloud chuckles lightly. Tifa leans down into his lips, kissing him lightly again. And again. And again.

"Cause you know I… hate when guys… try… to… kill… moods like this…" She says in between each kiss.

Cloud enjoyed every second of this. He had a crush on her when he was younger, and it had stayed even through their adventure, and now years of this romantic tension that he felt with her were coming out. And he loved it. Loved that someone he cared for was finally with him. Finally…

"Tifa." Cloud pushes Tifa back as he leans forward, looking away from her. "We can't…"

Tifa sighs, pushing Cloud's hands away and meeting his face. "What is it?"

"We can't do this. I mean… I can't let you be this close to me. Because everyone who I get close to… they all…" He pushes back, putting his back to the wall at the top of the bed. He wasn't crying. The pain he was feeling was stronger than what brought tears. It was a pain that made him want to cut something in two, If it was possible to combine pain and anger, this was what he felt. He had lost Zack and Aerith. The very thought of something happening to the woman who now was sitting on his lap and kissing with more passion then he had ever exhausted made him… feel this pain/anger feeling.

"Cloud…" Tifa whispers, worming her arms around Cloud's neck. "Stop it. Right now. I want this to happen. You and me."

Cloud opened his eyes. "But you'll get hurt Tifa… I don't want…"

Tifa pulled her arms away, grabbing the end of her tank top and lifting, revealing a scar that led from the bottom of her bra to just where the shirt covered. Cloud's eyes widen, his hand hovering over the scar.

"When did this…?"

"During that last fight we got in. Cid patched me up. Took forever cause I didn't want him to see my boobs. It doesn't hurt anymore, but Cid says the scar will take a few months to heal." She says, looking into Cloud's eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want you to worry of course. I knew you had a lot on your mind the last few weeks. I just didn't want you to worry more."

Cloud left her eyes, only to meet back when she directed his face back to hers with her hand.

"Listen to me Cloud, I don't care what I have to fight, where I have to fight it, how long I have to, or if I barely walk after. If it means I get to be with you, I will. You made a promise to me once, now I'm making mine. Nothing, not even that total douche bag Sephiroth, will keep me from being at your side forever. You got that?"

Cloud cupped her chin in his hands, bringing her lips to his again. He pushes her back, as she wraps her arms around his neck, and the two touch foreheads, neither saying a word for many moments.

"Tifa…" Cloud mutters softly, the two still in their locked spot.

"Yes Cloud?" Tifa replies, pulling back and opening her eyes to Cloud's face.

Cloud opens his eyes, admiring Tifa for a moment and smiling. "Thank you. For… being here for me."

Tifa grins, shrugging her shoulder with a bit of her hair covering the left side of her face. "Its what I do. What can I say?"

Cloud smiles, then blushes and looks away. Tifa raises a brow slyly, curious at the random look of embaressment.

"What's up Strife?"

"I just had a thought…"

"What kinda thought? A good thought?"

"Sorta…"

Tifa puts her fists on her hips, a pout made on her lips. "Come on Cloud, spill it."

Cloud looks to her, a small smile on the side of his face. "Would you… like to stay in my room tonight… with me?"

Tifa blushes a red that Cloud could almost plainly see in the moon lighted room. "Well… I mean… wow that escalated quickly…"

"I mean you don't have to! You can go back to your room I can stay here and… and…" Cloud moaned, almost melting as he felt his neck heat up like fire. Tifa was pecking his neck, working to his cheek and connecting with a long drawn kiss to his lips.

"Only if we keep Cid up till daylight." Tifa says in a purr. Cloud gains his composure, his face hot.

"You're good…" He mutters.

"Well, if we're gonna do this, one of us has to be." Tifa says full of pride. She sees Cloud with a raised brow and a sly grin. "What is it?"

Cloud brings his hands to her waist, a wicked smile coming to the side of his face.

"Cloud, what the hell-?"

With her hips tight to his, Cloud rolls Tifa under, making him land on top and her beneath him. He kisses her neck, making her squeak like a scared mouse. "But it's a lot better when both are good." He says huskily, snaking his hands behind her back and unhooking her bra.

"Good morning guys." Yuffie yawns as she walks into the dining room. Vincent sat reading the paper, with a mug of coffee in one hand. Cid sat at the table, his eyes bloodshot and a small moan coming from his throat. "What's the matter with you Cid?"

Cid's head slams into the table, making Vincent chuckle softly. "Poor boy was kept up all night." Vincent says, his eyes going back to the paper.

"By who?" Yuffie asks, Cid's head slowly lifting itself with a blank expression.

"Cloud… Tifa… screaming… all… Night... long…"

"Well, that was…" Tifa says, sitting at the left side of the bed. She was clothed, watching as Cloud pulled a white t-shirt over his head and pulling it down to his jeans. The two had only woken just half an hour earlier… after only and hour and half of sleep.

"Weird?" Cloud finishes, walking to the left side and sitting next to the brunette.

Tifa breathes deeply as she tilts her head on Cloud's shoulder and nuzzles it softly. "Not as weird as much as confusing."

"Weird, confusing…" Cloud looks down to Tifa, both sharing a smile. "… one of the single most best nights of my entire life." Cloud kisses her head, making Tifa smile and wrap her arms around his shoulders. Cloud looks to his bedside at the picture he cried looking at the other night. Aerith came to his mind, remembering how she loved making people happy even if it was at her own expense. How Zack cared for him like a brother, and would want him to be happy no matter what he did. "Tifa?"

"Yes Cloud?"

Cloud looks again down to where Tifa sat next to him with her arms around his shoulders. She smiled softly. And he smiled a little wider.

"We cant be friends anymore."

Tifa's eyes fill with shock, pulling her arms back. "What?"

"You're so easy." Cloud pushes her down on the bed within a second, throwing his leg over her body so he sat over her. He smiled wickedly as Tifa squirmed beneath him.

"Why would you joke about something like that?"

"Because I wasn't."

Tifa turned away from him pouting, which only just taunted the blonde. He leaned over and kissed her cheek.

"From now on were not friends. We're a couple. Unless you're truly just wanting us to be-"

Cloud never finished that sentence. For the moment Tifa wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his torso, the two went for another round that whole morning.
